WATERFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor has received a Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant from the National Park Service. The $750,000 grant will support economic development in the Mohawk Valley through the preservation of historic buildings in rural communities. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Five years is a long time to wait for justice.One Kansas City mother still grieves her son’s unsolved murder while she pleads to the public for information that could lead to an arrest. Suspects wanted after shooting Independence gas station clerk Tuesday marks five years since Keith Wasmer, 26, and his friend Michael Brewer, 29, were discovered dead inside the beach area at Longview Lake. Police reports show both men were shot. That was August 15, 2018. Thus far, there have been no arrests in this investigation.Shannon Wasmer, Keith’s mother, believes the silence has been the hardest part.“It’s been five years. Commerce City police continue to look for a man who they say shot and critically injured a 15-year-old worker at Santiago’s Mexican Restaurant on Thursday afternoon — a shooting that stemmed from a dispute between a customer and the employee.Officers were called to Santiago’s at 5230 E. 72nd Ave. just after 4 p.m. to find the teen employee with a gunshot wound. The Avalanche signed 2019 third-round draft pick Matt Stienburg to a two-year entry-level contract through the 2024-25 season Friday, the team announced.The Avs lost the exclusive negotiating rights to Stienburg on Wednesday after the deadline passed for teams to sign college players on their reserve lists. Stienburg, who spent four years at Cornell, became an unrestricted free agent but remained in talks with the Avalanche.Colorado drafted the forward from Halifax, Nova Scotia, at No. 63 overall in 2019. He compiled 46 points (20 goals) in 73 games across three seasons at Cornell. 63-Year-Old Man Dead after Being Struck by Impaired Driver on Buckeye RoadPHOENIX, AZ (August 17, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a multi-vehicle DUI accident killed Fermin Ruiz Gutierrez, police said.On August 12th, at around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of 51st Avenue and Buckeye Road following a DUI incident.According to the Phoenix police, at least three vehicles were involved and two of them were driven by 63-year-old Gutierrez, and the suspect, 28-year-old Alejandro Carrillo.Furthermore, Carrillo struck the vehicle of Gutierrez and slammed into another vehicle that was also stopped at the intersection.Consequently, first responders arrived at the scene and were met with Gutierrez suffering from heavy injuries.Gutierrez eventually died due to the extent of his injuries at the scene.No further information about the fatal crash on 51st Street has been released at this time. MARTINEZ — Law enforcement officers shot and killed a man after responding to a burglary call at a cannabis dispensary early Friday, sources told the Bay Area News Group. Martinez police and Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Velvet cannabis dispensary in the 4800 block of Sunrise Drive, near Pacheco Boulevard, before sunrise. Sources said they were called there on a burglary call at the dispensary.The Contra Costa Fire Protection District also responded. Fire district spokesperson Capt. George Laing said three ambulances and two fire engines responded to the scene at 3:30 a.m. and that two adults were taken by ambulance to a hospital.No other information was immediately available.This is a developing report.
